Operations Manager - Waste

Location:  Tamworth

THE OPPORTUNITY

  • Lead a committed team in the day-to-day operations of Councils Waste & Resource Recovery Facilities
  • Get involved in developing and implementing a number of exciting/ground breaking Waste & Resource Recovery initiatives

To be successful in this role you will have highly developed communication/negotiation skills and ability to work with a high level of autonomy whilst directing a large committed operational team.

The Operations Manager - Waste is a senior role within Council and is responsible for:

  • Supervise and control the day-to-day and long-term operation and maintenance of Council’s Resource Recovery and Waste operations through the effective utilisation of staff and equipment.
  • Provision of specialist technical support in relation to operation, inspection, monitoring, programming and quality control of all areas of resource recovery and waste operations.
  • Lead and develop team members, provide guidance, motivate the team to ensure completion of tasks, projects and programs in a safe, timely and efficient manner.
  • Operational administration of contracts, including on-site contract supervision for waste operations.
  • Proactively manage the Council’s legislative and legal obligations to ensure overall compliance and take steps to manage the Council’s reputational risk

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent in a relevant field i.e., Environmental or Civil Engineering etc OR extensive experience in a similar or related field
  • WH&S General Induction Certificate for Construction Work
  • Current Driver Licence
  • Diploma in Project Management
  • Experience in Leadership & Management

Salary range: Grade 21 - $131,103.67 - $141,864.87 per annum including superannuation, civil liability allowance and leaseback vehicle (delete if not applicable) for a 35 hour work week. Salary may be negotiated based on skills, experience and your value to our organisation.

Flexible working arrangements will be considered by mutual agreement and according to operational requirements.
