Townsville Hospital and Health Service are seeking a client focused Patient Services Officer to join the Medical Service Group for a casual role to support staffing needs at both the Townsville University Hospital and Kirwan Health Campus. - Provide quality person-centred care in a friendly and helpful manner; communicate clearly and confidently with patients, members of the public and departmental staff both person and over the telephone whilst adhering to Queensland Health guidelines on confidentiality.
- Build good relationships with patients, their families and work colleagues by using strong communication and negotiation skills and deliver a service that meets their needs with adherence to policy and standards.
- Respond to and resolve non-clinical and general frontline enquiries by providing accurate and timely information to support patients and staff within scope of role and in line with relevant procedures.
- Access and utilise a wide variety of patient and corporate information systems to accurately record all demographic and other mandatory patient information relative to work environment.
- Perform a variety of administrative duties using defined processes which may include but not limited to: undertaking patient and appointment data entry by using a wide range of data bases and systems, maintaining accurate and up to date patient records including batching patient information in preparation for scanning, ordering office supplies; daily billing activity and documentation; support patient correspondence activities and other general administrative tasks.
- Maintain awareness of relevant patient intake, admissions, bookings and discharge models to support effective and efficient patient flow by adhering to standardised health administration processes specific to the clinical working environment of the role.
- Work as a productive and adaptive team member to ensure priority tasks are completed and deadlines met.
- Achieve defined individual work targets and contribute to team goals in a changing environment.
- Participate in development, implementation, review and maintenance of internal systems, processes and work practices. Identify and report areas for improvement to existing practices.
- Continually seek ways to improve service delivery and achieve organisational goals via development of professional skills and personal growth.
- Carry out other delegated administrative duties within scope to support effective operations of the administration service as directed.
