Team Global Express is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Payroll Officer to join our team. As the Payroll Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for our employees. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of payroll administration, from data entry to tax compliance, while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism.
What you’ll do
- Process payroll for employees accurately and on time, ensuring adherence to company policies, employment laws and regulations.
- Provide specialist support for the Workday to Preceda workflows.
- Maintain employee records, including new hires, terminations, promotions, and other changes, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Management for end-to-end processing of a combination of weekly, or monthly payrolls.
- Calculate and process employee wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and deductions, while ensuring compliance with tax regulations and employment contracts.
- Provide support to the Preceda system administration responsibilities.
- Respond promptly to employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, and tax-related matters, providing exceptional customer service.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance departments to ensure accurate employee information, payroll reporting and financial reconciliations.
- Assist in ensuring standard operating procedures are developed and kept current.
- Provide accurate, timely and complex reporting.
- Participate in cross training to eliminate the risk of single points of sensitivity.
Knowledge/Experience:
- Proven experience as a Payroll Officer or similar role, with a strong understanding of payroll processes, tax regulations and employment laws.
- Expert knowledge in termination calculations as they relate to taxation and LSL.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle complex payroll scenarios.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with employees and stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of PAYG, payroll tax, superannuation, workers compensation and long service leave.
- Knowledge of major software payroll packages.
- Understand the integrations between Workday and Preceda - desirable
- Able to work independently (low supervision/autonomously) and as part of the broader team.
