Exciting opportunity for an experienced Payroll Officer to join a fast-paced office in Rockhampton

Your new role
In this role you will find yourself carrying out duties including but not limitedto;
- Preparing and processing the fortnightly payroll for the school, including leave accruals (400 employees)
- Ensuring all payroll documentation is completed, verified and approved
- Attending to employee payroll enquiries and queries
- Administering superannuation, tax, payroll deductions and other payments
- Calculating employment termination payments, pay increases, backpays and overpayment recovery
- Performing manual payroll calculations, such as leave loading and proportion of salaries
- Preparing statistical and government payroll information, such as census
- Preparing the annual Workcover declaration of wages
- Preparing statements of service, letters of offer, contracts and appointment letters for staff
- Working with the HR & Compliance Manager to resolve payroll matters and maintain personnel files
- Managing all worker’s compensation claims in accordance with existing policy and procedures
- Performing other duties as directed by the HR & Compliance Manager
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will require the following;
- Minimum of 3 years experience in end-to-end payroll experience of at least three years’ in a large-sized organisation and exposure to a diverse range of Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, including the ability to prioritise and manage work with high attention to detail;
- Proficient in the use of computerised payroll and time and attendance systems, preferably Sage MicroPay and TimeTarget;
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites, with a particular focus on Excel Spreadsheet
- Highly regarded but not essential previous experience within the Education System / Non-for profit
- Current Blue Card and the ability to Pass a pre-employment Police Check
- Experience in the preparation of financial reports;
- Strong Verbal and written Communication
