PAYROLL & HUMAN RESOURCES SUPPORT: FULL TIME

Spanos Retail Group owns and manages a number of different companies operating under the celebrations and Spanos IGA branding. This role is based at our head office at Ashmore, with on-site parking available.
We are looking for a passionate, experienced Payroll Officer to join our Payroll team. The main purpose of the role is to provide quality service and support to our companies by ensuring payrolls are calculated and processed accurately and on time.
Specific areas of responsibility for the Payroll Officer include:
- End to end processing of multiple companies, up to 450 employees
- Ensuring all payroll transactions are processed accurately and in a timely manner to meet payroll deadlines
- Payroll preparation by ensuring all changes to payroll files have been made prior to processing
- Calculating earnings and deductions dependent on shift differentials, overtime and other factors
- Entering new employees into our onboarding system through Tanda and ensuring that all relevant data has been supplied
- Creating employment contracts
- Assist with general payroll queries in a timely manner either via email, face to face or telephone
- Daily upkeep of time and attendance, annual and personal leave records
- Interpretation of Awards and Employment Agreements
- Secure filing of personnel and payroll information
- Assist with Superannuation queries, reporting and monthly remittances
- Assist with End of Financial Year payroll processing and reporting
- Provide administration support to the Payroll Supervisor and Human Resources Manager as required
The skills, experience and personal characteristics that you will need to be considered for this role are:
- 2-3 years’ relevant work experience in a similar end to end Payroll position
- Solid understanding of general payroll systems, procedures and legislation
- Ability to concentrate on detail over an extended period of time
- Attention to detail and accuracy with sound numeracy skills
- Highly developed verbal and written communication
- Have an understanding of awards and other employment conditions, strong people skills and confidence to perform inductions and onsite tours
- Ability to work in an open team environment and to accept direction guidance and feedback
- Experience with Tanda and an advantage but not essential
- Computer literate with strong skills with Microsoft Office suite
- Proven ability to work effectively either as an individual or member of a team and relate effectively with staff on all levels
- A genuine willingness to help out where possible and get involved at all levels of the company
