Our client within the Construction industry, they are looking for a People & Culture Manager. This is a role that they want long-term, to grow with the business and take to another level.
This is a critical, standalone role in a fast-paced environment. The HR space is in the phase of maturity, a few things have been established but looking for someone to come in and take it to another level.
The company
Roughly around 140 people at the moment, based in Richmond. A rapidly growing business that likes to do things with a personal touch. They offer a range of services across refurbishment, redevelopment and fit-out.
The Team
Reporting to the directors who are still hands-on in the business & very down to earth. There is also a HSEQ manager alongside this role.
Where does this role fit in
The People and Culture Manager will sit as a peer in the senior leadership team. You will oversee and manage the application of existing systems, refinement and improvement of systems and general improvements to the business that improve our staffs work experience.
The role is primarily a role of enhancement of the staff experience but will also provide compliance support around HR requirements.
There is still alot to be established. They have introduced a EAP, HRIS and Culture Survey process. But there is a whole L&D platform, graduate pathways, employee benefits schemes, etc that still need to be established.

- Review the market to find and implement an HRIS performance management and review system.
- Improve setting and measuring of KPI’s. Manage and track staff training needs.
- Create a staff training schedule, both internal and external courses. Communicate available training and implement managers’ training recommendations.
- Create training schedules and courses, internal and external, for senior managers and leaders to develop skills like:
- Leadership skills
- Communication skills
- Dispute resolution and conflict training
- Managing and creating high-performance teams
- Sales and conversion techniques
- Create a staff benefit offering, we have just signed onto an EAP but need to roll it out. They would like to include a range of staff benefits within this, like:Work/life balance days, birthday days off, team building days. Gym membership, subsidized memberships etc Salary continuance, life insurance etc A structured maternity and paternity leave scheme

About you:
This a hands-on role, and great for someone who wants to join a space where you get to make it your own and work with the business to build something special. They are not looking for someone who wants to sit in the office and work from the shadows applying traditional HR processes. They want someone practical, who can get out there and advocate for the brand, make a buzz and try new things that are relevant not just copy and paste.
- Previous Experience in a similar role
- Experience rolling out new initiatives and taking the lead
- Solid HR Generalist expereince
- IR is nice to have but the directors take care of the unions themselves so not a must
- Someone that is ok with working onsite full time
- Experience in changing recruitment processes and EVP. They are looking for HR professionals who brand/socials conscious
