Role Summary
The role of Psychosocial Recovery Coach is to work collaboratively with clients, their families and supports to design, plan and implement mental health recovery plans that are specific to the individual. The role seeks to build strong, respectful relationships with clients, driven by the coaching of positive, healthy habits and aiming to build up the capacity, strengths and resilience of clients. The role relies upon honesty, integrity and sound problem solving skills to always be focused on achieving outcomes for clients. The role also liaises with various internal stakeholders to ensure that a considered, holistic approach is being taken towards client care.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide coaching and mentorship to clients in the community
- Work with clients to develop strategies and implement positive habits to use throughout their day to day
- Deliver services based from recovery-orientated framework
- Identify potential crisis situations, proactively and effectively manage these
- Implement and link clients with NDIS and mainstream services
- Document and report client's progress for support plans and NDIS reporting
Skills, Attributes and Experience
The work undertaken by a Recovery Coach often requires lived and/or learnt experience, so it is an essential requirement that successful candidates possess qualifications in peer work or mental health or have significant experience working in a mental health field. Our ideal candidate will be a strong communicator who practices active listening, keeps empathy in focus as they work and are passionate about supporting clients. You will possess a strong work ethic and not think twice when presented with the opportunity to go above and beyond for a client of yours. Our ideal candidate will also possess a sound knowledge base for the skills and practices required for successful Psychosocial Recovery and have familiarity with navigating mental health services and systems. We are happy to consider candidates with lived experience of mental health recovery.
As well as the above, the Key Requirements include:
- Possess or be willing to obtain a NDIS Worker Screening Check and a WA Working with Children Check
- Relevant qualifications and/or experience within a relevant field
- Previous experience working within the NDIS is desirable but not essential
- Sound MS Office skills
