We invite applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for a new role as Purchasing Assistant located at our head office in Southeast Melbourne.

We are the leading specialist supplier for the baking industry.  We pride ourselves on timely and efficient customer service and we currently supply over 1200 customers throughout Victoria.  As a proud member of the Country Wide Foodservice network our customer reach is extended to other states and territories. TIMSTOCK ranges over 3000 products making us the ‘go to’ foodservice provider for professional bakers and pastry cooks. We operate out of our warehouse and head office facility conveniently located in South-East Melbourne operating our own fleet of distribution vehicles supported by a specialist sales team.

Applicants should be able to clearly demonstrate the following

• Ideally have been in a similar purchasing role for at least 12 months
• A commercial aptitude
• Certification in procurement or similar
• Tertiary qualifications in supply chain management – get bonus points
• Ideally, prior experience in a food distribution and/or food manufacturing
• A good working knowledge of direct to customer sales and marketing
• Experience with ERP systems
• Strong Excel, Word, Outlook skills and excellent computer literacy
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Good analytical skills and attention to detail
• Ability to handle a range of tasks with changing priorities.
• Record keeping and documentation.
• Ability to work in a team environment.

What you will be doing

• Researching suppliers 
• Managing supplier relationships
• Comparing and evaluating supplier offers
• Negotiating contract terms and pricing
• Tracking orders and ensure smooth delivery
• Assessing and monitoring the quality of products
• Entering data and administration of PO’s and consignment information
• Monitoring stock levels
• Placing orders as needed
• Coordinating with warehouse staff to ensure storage requirements are met
• Working within set budgets
• Coordinating logistics 
• An active member of our Innovation Group
