Your future role
Austin has an exciting permanent full-time employment opportunity for an experienced Purchasing Officer based in our office in Kewdale.
The Purchasing Officer has responsibility for on time delivery of required quality components, products and services in the most cost-effective manner.
A critical aspect of the role is to ensure that all purchasing is compliant with the relative standards, quality assurance policies and all other company policies and guidelines.
We are looking for:
Qualifications & experience
- Diploma in Purchasing Management desirable or equivalent experience.
- Have previous purchasing experience - minimum 2 years
- Display a firm understanding of the Pronto system or similar systems
- Be able to interpret and action Bills of Material.
- Experience with Microsoft Office software programs essential;
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Highly motivated self-starter
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Tasks & responsibilities
- Ensure purchasing of authorised / approved components.
- Ensure economical purchasing of components and services to the required product delivery volumes.
- At all times enhance the organisation’s reputation in the eyes of suppliers and competitors within the marketplace by ethical business practice.
- Obtain quotes for all components, finished products and services.
- Negotiate with suppliers to ensure cost effective deals resulting in a Win-Win result
- Responsible for ensuring that supplier selection is in accordance with the company policies criteria to improve purchasing efficiencies, reduce unnecessary costs and streamline purchase order activities.
- Monitor stock levels and utilise wherever viable/possible.
- Monitor the use of materials purchased for specific projects to ensure any surplus to requirements are recorded and stored effectively for future use.
- Ongoing monitoring of all suppliers’ performance
- Develop good working relationships with suppliers to always ensure best possible outcomes.
- Identify alternate suppliers of similar/same or better products.
- Maintain a monitoring system to ensure timely delivery of goods and services, reporting any delays that may affect production
- Have contingency plans in place to offset any potential problems in supply where possible.
