It is an exciting time at Melbourne Racing Club, as Caulfield Racecourse undergoes the most significant upgrade in its history. The Masterplan will develop Caulfield as a world-class entertainment venue accessible to all, with endless event opportunities including festivals, markets, concerts, and conventions. The Sales Manager will showcase the new state of the art venue that promises to will deliver a new calibre of premium experiences market, which includes a 600 pax banquet room and an 18,000 sqm event deck.
As our Sales Manager, you will be the driving force in supporting the General Manager – Functions, Food & Beverage to develop a strategic sales approach that will deliver strong commercial outcomes for Caulfield and Sportsbet Sandown Racecourse non-race day business. The role will manage inbound and outbound business development opportunities focusing on maximizing activity within the Racecourses 365 days a year.
Duties and responsibilities
- Develop and implement a Sales strategy to attract a diverse range of clients and premium experiences across both Caulfield and Sandown Racecourses.
- Manage and lead sales presentations, negotiations, and contract discussions with potential clients.
- Provide leadership with a focus on functions and events that will increase revenue based on reaching and exceeding financial targets.
- Monitor sales performance, analyze data, and provide regular reports to senior leadership on sales activities, revenue forecasts, and market trends.
- Focus on driving profitable revenue across the functions and events business within the portfolio.
- Lead and motivate a sales team, providing guidance, coaching, and training to enhance their sales skills and performance.
Skills and Experience
- 3-5 years’ proven Sales Management experience working in a large-scale Hospitality & Events Venues.
- Established network within the Business events industry.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to lead and partner with sales and operational teams.
- Ability to understand, manage and deliver budget requirements.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends (if necessary).
