We are looking for a Senior Accountant, Corporate Accounting who will be part of the Pacific
(Australia and New Zealand), Record-to-Report team to ensure complete, accurate and
timely financial reporting and maintain an effective internal control environment.
WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON?
You will ensure timely and accurate month-end closing and will drive continuous
improvements in the efficiency and effectiveness of the team's accounting and financial
reporting processes. This will also involve working closely with our Managed Service
Provider for accounting transactions.
You will work as part of a dedicated team, to ensure key financial assertions are met with
respect to Corporate Accounting through development / maintenance of a comprehensive
control structure across the transaction streams, understanding the processes that
ultimately result in the recognition of SG&A, Taxation, (Income Tax, GST, FBT and Payroll
Tax etc), Intercompany, General Ledger close and operational related accounts. This will
enable you to lead and manage internal control over financial reporting related to Corporate
Accounting - General Ledger, Taxation, Treasury Accounting and Sales, General and
Administrative (SG&A) expenses accounting such as Fixed Asset, Lease, Marketing, Sports
Marketing and Wages.
You will also manage local statutory filings and audits, and collaborate with internal and
external auditors and tax advisors on tax related work such as corporate Tax, consumption
tax, transfer pricing related matters and local tax audits.
You will develop high profile, influential and collaborative relationships across teams,
functions and layers of the business while demonstrating mastery of US GAAP, particularly
around Corporate Accounting, Tax and Treasury.
WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH?
This role directly reports to Accounting Manager - Corporate Accounting, Pacific. In addition
to working closely with the Pacific Finance team, you will also work closely with our broader
Nike Pacific team. Effective and timely communication between Nike Pacific, APLA
Geography teams and business partners are a critical piece to this role, and this will give
you a great opportunity to learn our end to end business process with broader business key
stakeholders. You will also interact with various service providers who we partner with in
driving various initiatives or audits.
WHAT YOU BRING TO NIKE
Requirements for this position include:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, preferably with CPA or equivalent professional qualification
- 4+ years of progressive experience with public accounting firms and/or multi-national companies desired, with preferable experience in SG&A expenses, Taxation, Intercompany, General Ledger, and legal entity reporting
- Strong technical foundation of accounting, Tax and Treasury, as well as knowledge of USGAAP, local GAAP and SOX required
- Experience with ERP systems and enabling tool solutions (e.g. SAP, Blackline, Business Warehouse) would be an added advantage
- Ability to translate business requirements into operationalisation with considerations for financial risks and controls across end-to-end processes.
- Demonstrate good communication and influencing skills on complex accounting requirements, while building and maintaining strong cross-functional relationships
- Proven track record of working independently, leading and prioritizing against multiple priorities, while delivering high quality results, and exercising a high degree of integrity and confidentiality.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook with ability to deploy them effectively for analysis reporting, presentation, and process-flow improvement.
