Senior Legal Counsel, Asx Listed Funds Manager

Our Client is an ASX-Listed Funds Manager, operating a portfolio of real estate and property businesses. They have grown by acquisition to become a market leader and are currently seeking a candidate with 7 to 10 years PQE in corporate/commercial law from a major law firm and, potentially, also in-house or on secondment.

The candidate will have a high-level technical skillset and a strong commercial understanding to support and communicate with all levels of the business. This newly created position reports directly to General Counsel and will play a pivotal role with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts and documentation
• Advising on commercial transactional matters and acquisitions
• Utilising strong commercial acumen and interpersonal skills to effectively partner with various stakeholders to support them by providing advice on commercial contracts
• Working with internal stakeholders to draft, review and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts including services agreements and procurement agreements
• Collaborate and innovate and improve the delivery of legal services to the business
• Build robust relationships with the business, understanding the strategic needs and objectives and provide legal advice and solutions.

The Successful Candidate:

• Current NSW practising certificate (or equivalent in another Australian jurisdiction)
• Top-tier/Mid-tier law firm experience and/or an in-house legal background
• Experience acquired from an ASX listed, financial services, funds /real estate team would be highly desirable
• Ability to deliver legal advice in a practical and straightforward way to inform business decision making
• Capacity to develop strong professional relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
• Excellent time management skills, being able to work to tight deadlines, with accuracy and a high attention to detail.
• Practical, commercially-minded, a strong work ethic and a positive team attitude.
