The Alby is located on the ground floor of the Albemarle building, Woden. The gastropub comprises of dining areas, multiple bars, Chef’s table for private dining, beer garden, games basement with bar and food offering, Duckpin bowling, pinball and pool tables. The venue provides a range of menus from breakfast, all-day dining, takeaway, functions, set lunch/dinners for groups and cocktail parties. Designed by Capezio Copeland and developed by DOMA.

About the role
As a Sous Chef, you will be responsible for providing strong leadership to the kitchen team, whilst utilising solid attention to detail, in elevating and sustaining competitive edge. Accountable for the quality and consistency of food, mead production and service including the efficiencies, consistency, training and accountability of costs associated with the kitchen department. You will work alongside the Executive chef on menu creation, development and implementation of any new initiatives to improve the award-winning department.

Naturally, your previous years within a Sous Chef role, will come highly regarded. As will the following:
- Ability to understand complex instructions and materials
- Ability to work an assigned roster including nights, weekends, holidays and extended hours when required
- Performance management experience – demonstrated ability to relate, communicate and motivate all junior staff.
- Experience in report preparation- relating to all levels of employment and training requirements
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure
- Demonstrated ability with large volume food preparation and service
- Diploma or higher qualification in commercial cookery
- First Aid Certificate
- Work, health and safety knowledge (Training is desirable)
