About the Role

Reporting to the Manager Community, you will be able to provide insights into the requirements of the local community and bring advice into the Community Team with regards to key issues and community needs.


You will be a strong team player that is able to work with minimal supervision while utilising and contributing to the strengths of the team to achieve success.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Successful delivery of the Community and stakeholder priorities, including social investment projects, communications, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Advise Corporate Affairs leadership and Asset team on key social risks to BHP and contribute to the development of suitable strategies to prevent and mitigate risks.
  • Contribute to Asset level Human Rights Risk and Opportunity Assessment processes.
  • Work with partners to develop communications materials to help promote partnerships and our contribution both internally and externally.
  • Contribute content and case studies for the Annual Report, Sustainability Report, and other corporate publications.
  • Provide input into the Social Value Assessments, Asset and Functional five-year plan.
  • Contribute to the development of social investment budgets for Coal.
  • Work with potential partners to develop quality social investment projects and programs to be considered for funding.
  • Regular monitoring of social investment projects to ensure achievement of outcomes to agreed timelines and budgets.
  • Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to understand priority issues and concerns, and ensure complaints and opportunities are identified and addressed.
About You

As a successful candidate you will possess the following:

  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in areas of Sustainability, Community and Social Impact and Social Investment.
  • Proven understanding of the Queensland political and economic environment, structures, and processes.
  • Understanding of issues management including human rights, Indigenous Peoples, and the concept of social value.
  • Proven ability to work with internal and external stakeholders to achieve against regional/community priorities.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with and influence stakeholders to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Strong problem solver, with an ability to view issues holistically and develop suitable and fit for purpose solutions.
  • Demonstrated strong governance, including meeting compliance requirements, following due process, and financial and administrative management.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to effectively manage priorities and projects in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Experience in community relations/development and working in regional or remote communities preferred.
Location

This residential role to be based in Moranbah, Queensland. You will be working on Monday-Friday roster.
