This independent studio is located in beautiful bayside Sandringham, and they are a friendly, cohesive team. Don't be misled by the suburban location, the work is first-class with some national and international clients across a number of industries, including retail, sport, finance and health. Recent expansion has meant they need a studio manager to join them, however the workload is such there will be some time available to be designing as well.
The role
Working with management and creatives you'll oversee and run the daily operations of the creative studio, ensuring workflow is tracking smoothly, managing studio resources, systems and processes, keeping a sharp eye on quality control and overseeing profitability. A large part of the work is project based so you'll need to be up with the following:
- Top notch project management skills (as project resourcing changes by the day), happy in deadline-oriented environments, have strong organisational and problem-solving skills, love attention to detail
- Great at keeping everyone in touch with what's going on
- Coordinate project timelines, milestones, and deliverables to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget
- Track project progress and identify potential bottlenecks or issues, proactively solving those problems to keep things on track
- Act as the primary point of contact for project managers and creative teams, facilitating communication
- Meet with management, team leaders or account managers to collaborate on strategies and solutions.
As a design resource yourself you'll also be a part of the output, but how you engage and manage with that, is flexible according to your own skill set and aptitude. The studio is totally open to a discussion around what might work best. Either way, you'll form a vital part of the studio's management capabilities.
The studio genuinely cares for the staff and work from home flexibility has always been part of the process. As a studio manager of course, it's by nature a hands-on role, but they are open to all conversations around what works best.
The location
Located in the Sandringham village, the beach is just a short walk, as are cafe's, parks, shops, services and the train station. It's a relaxed environment and ideal for someone who isn't looking for long hours and loads of pressure.
Experience
- 5+ years of related experience as a designer/studio manager/account manager/project manager in small to medium agency or creative studio. They are more interested in aptitude and attitude than ticking every box
- Worked both in groups and autonomously on small and large projects
- Involvement in creating integrated content across all marketing channels from digital, social media, paid media, mobile, but also understand offline and print
- Design or finished art skills
- Proven experience with leading a team of creative talent is ideal
- Experience with studio and workflow systems and knowledge of what works and what doesn't
