Villawood North Public School is located in South Western Sydney and provides high-quality education for a richly diverse community with 90% of students having a language background other than English. The current enrolment is 245 students. There are 28 different language backgrounds represented in the student population with the larger groups being Arabic, Vietnamese, Chinese and Pacific Islander. The school supports students from low socio-economic, English as a Second Language and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds.
Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach primary library or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in Teacher Librarian qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education (Refer special notes below).
- Highly developed communication, organisation and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build and maintain effective relationships with students, parents and staff.
- Demonstrated capacity to lead a dynamic, innovative and student-focused library learning space.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues to deliver explicit, innovative teaching and whole school programs, whilst promoting critical and creative thinking and a love of literature.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
Special Notes
If applicable engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the Teacher Librarian qualifications as recognised by the NSW Department of Education, which must be completed within 24 months.
