About the role:

If you are thinking of becoming part of, or have already begun your journey into the mining / supply chain industry, it is vital you receive industry training based through on the job application. MLG are extremely proud to be offering a Purchasing Officer Traineeship Position. This Role will be engaged in a formal National Traineeship engaged in the TLI30321Certificate III in Supply Chain Operations (Warehousing Operations) qualification, which will train you to oversee and execute the inventory and purchasing function for MLG sites which includes freight, dispatch and the systems which support it. 

  • Kalgoorlie local position - home every night
  • Permanent full-time position
  • 9:5 roster (dayshift)

MLG are proud to offer a direct employment pathway through our latest Traineeship offering where you will be introduced an in-depth and all-encompassing Certificate III in Supply Chain Operations (Warehousing Operations) Traineeship. Throughout our Supply Chain traineeship each candidate will learn the fundamentals of the supply chain operations through on the job learning practices engaged with leading sector RTO’s providing the accredited training outcomes, where you will be exposed to a development opportunity encompassing:

  • HSES policies and procedures are followed and maintain a proactive approach to HSES.
  • Identify and wear correct PPE and complete risk assessments where required
  • Reporting practices for accidents, incidents, hazards and near misses using correct procedures
  • Receive guidance in ensuring activities are followed in accordance with HSE rules and regulations, including overseeing/advising on correct storage and handling of hazardous material, participating in waste disposal and maintaining associated equipment
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with a range of customers, stakeholders and suppliers in order to facilitate efficient delivery of goods and services to clients
  • Purchasing Requests to Purchase Order to be conversions
  • Source and procure materials from suppliers for the lowest and practical cost.
  • Check & receipt goods in a timely and efficient manner
  • Issue out inventory taken each day in database
  • Raise purchase requisitions for site
  • Manage component repair and tyre movements for the site
  • Freight loading/unloading in line with COR
  • Ensure freight travels consistently to ensure a reliable turnaround from site
  • Facilitate freight preparation and documentation
  • Ensure express freight is handled and despatched according to its priority
  • Inventory levels - ensuring optimal quantity is held onsite with minimal shortfalls.
  • Re-ordering of inventory items
  • Stocktakes are carried out in line with inventory policy and procedure
  • Forklift and general yard organisation 

To be considered for this role you will have the following skills & attributes:

  • Current & Valid C Class Drivers Licence (ESSENTIAL)
  • HRWL - Forklift Licence (ESSENTIAL)
  • Certificate in Warehouse and Supply Chain Management (desirable) 
  • High level of customer service skills with the ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders and suppliers, along with the capability to clearly present information that is appropriately targeted to the audience; 
  • A high level of computer literacy, including experience using a purchasing and inventory management system; 
  • Excellent conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills in order to identify errors and issues and develop effective and evidence-based solutions to problems, including the ability to interpret data and identify evolving trends/issues 
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, including a drug & alcohol screen.
  • Ability to pass applicable security screening requirements (National Police Clearance etc.).
