Broome Youth and Families Hub is on the search for a team member to make the role of Youth Housing Support Officer their own. The Support Officer will deliver case management to young people, aged 16 to-25 years, with the aim of assisting them to obtain and maintain stable accommodation.
We need someone who is both, compassionate and results-driven - someone who can communicate effectively and collaborate seamlessly.

Key Duties
- Work towards achieving the WA Supported Accommodation Assistance Program (SAAP) standards
- Assist young people who are homeless or at risk of future homelessness to access stable accommodation and to develop skills to reduce likelihood of future homelessness
- Provide outreach support to young people, young parents and to young people's family group, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness
- Assist young people or young parents to meet the needs of their family through direct service provisions, advocacy, referral to specialist services or community resources as required
- Develop a case management plan in consultation with the young person
- Undertake risk and formal needs assessment for each client, set SMART goals
- Assist housed clients in maintaining tenancy
- Provide family-based service options to strengthen, restore and maintain family relationships where appropriate
- Ensure a proactive service approach to establish strong client/service relationships
- Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships
- Provide appropriate referral pathways
- Advocate for the inclusion of eligible clients onto housing and priority housing lists
- Maintain an understanding of contemporary issues in Aboriginal culture, in the context of kinship, community and the community services sector
- Observe and respect cultural protocols
- Positively promote the services provided by BYFH within the human services sector and the wider community
Essential Criteria:
- Tertiary qualification in Social Work or relevant field or industry
- Two years or more relevant work experience
- Demonstrated experience in trauma informed practice.
- A demonstrated understanding of issues as they relate to Aboriginal people in the Kimberley
- High level written and verbal communication skills including producing high-quality documents or program information
- High level written skills including client case notes, documents and reports
- Strong teamwork and stakeholder engagement skills including building successful referral relationships with other services
- Demonstrated experience working in case management or homelessness programs
- Understanding that housing is a human right and are passionate about it
