Our opportunity
As Accountant, Funds Management, you will provide Finance support for the portfolio of Funds, Mandates and Joint Ventures managed on behalf of Capital Partners, including their monthly reporting, statutory reporting and taxation requirements. Reporting to the Taxation and Finance Managers, Funds Management, you will liaise with stakeholders across the broader Funds Management, and Finance teams, including Mirvac's finance offshore service provider and other non-finance stakeholders.
This role is an initial 12-month fixed term contract with potential to be made permanent.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Monthly Management Accounting: delivery of monthly management accounts and associated reporting for our capital partners including monthly results and reporting packs, Business Activity Statements (BASs), and other ad hoc requests and analysis;
- Statutory Reporting: assist in the preparation of statutory financial statements, manage requests from external auditors, and support the Finance Manager with all other statutory reporting requests as required;
- Tax Compliance: assist the Finance Manager and Tax Manager with the tax obligations of the portfolio of Funds, Mandates and Joint Ventures, including the preparation of fund payments, distribution calculations, tax returns and other deliverables;
- Review of documentation from the Mirvac offshore team, including reconciliations, general ledger postings, cashflow forecasting, BASs and other ad hoc calculations.
- Stakeholder liaison: analyse and respond to queries, issues and other requests from various internal and external stakeholders, including capital partners, offshore team, and Group Finance team.
- Treasury and Accounts Payable: review the forecasting of cash flow requirements and assist in ad hoc requests from the Mirvac Treasury team; instruct, review and facilitate payment directions for AP, external custodian and transfer requests;
- Maintenance of accounting systems to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting operations, review current processes for efficiencies and work with offshore team to maintain or improve current work procedures.
- Support the Finance Manager, Tax Manager and other areas of the business with other ad hoc matters as required.
Your point of difference
To be successful you will be CA/CPA qualified, or near completing. You will have prior accounting and tax experience - experience working in the property sector is preferred. Experience using Yardi and MRI is advantageous but not essential, and you will have intermediate Excel skills. You will be required to interact and build relationships with stakeholders across different finance divisions so well-developed communication skills are a must. You possess the ability to manage competing priorities work to deadlines and are self-motivated to take initiative.
