About us
Founded in the 1880s and located in the sugar cane fields between Yatala & Jacobs Well, the Rocky Point Sugar Mill operates within one of Australia's largest rural industries and is the last family & privately owned sugar mill in Australia. Operations include a mix of agricultural and manufacturing activities producing raw sugar and molasses. The company also supplies “green" power to the Queensland electricity grid from its recently acquired 30MW renewable energy cogeneration plant.
This transactional role has become available to replace a valued member of the small finance team who is relocating to another region.
Key Responsibilities
- Reconciliations – daily bank & other GL
- Collating and reconciling freight information for invoice and inventory transaction processing.
- Processing & uploading payments to online banking platform.
- Maintain cash summary and forecasting spreadsheet.
- Billing customers & following up collections.
- Molasses customer invoicing & liaison.
- Cover some AP tasks on an ad-hoc basis.
- Preparation of monthly BAS.
- Preparation of the annual FBT return.
- Maintain the Fixed Assets Register (Excel based)
- Day to day assistance to the Chief Financial Officer.
- Assistance with month end accounting procedures including depreciation, accruals, prepayments & leave provisions.
- Ad-hoc clerical and administration tasks.
Experience
- Previous experience working in a similar role.
- Foundation knowledge of key accounting concepts.
- General knowledge of GST & taxation concepts.
- Experience with MYOB or similar accounting software.
- Intermediate Microsoft excel skills.
