THE ROLE
The Assets Manager operates at a senior level within Regional Housing and provides direct support to the Chief Operations Officer (COO) and greater Executive Team. The Assets Manager is influential in the formulation of internal and external strategy aimed at the delivery of services specific to asset and facility management and development, as well as planned and preventative maintenance of the portfolio.
The Assets Manager will play an integral part in the development and implementation of a comprehensive asset management strategy to optimise asset performance, reduce costs, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards, supporting the expansion of the housing portfolio, and property development activities in order to maintain TIER 1 registration.
The Assets Manager shall be a key liaison with all levels of government, business, real estates and landlords, and work collaboratively with the Executive Management Team in attending regular forums and facilitating presentations to support business growth and develop strong strategic, trusted relationships.
The Assets Manager will be responsible for autonomously driving the effective use of responsive, planned and cyclical maintenance budgets and ensuring compliance with legislative obligations and regulatory standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrate inspirational leadership by action and support delivered to your team and the broader organisation congruent with Regional Housing values and behavioural competencies
- Effectively manage the Assets Team, develop team capability and performance through fostering a collaborative work environment
- Manage and coordinate asset management activities of the organisation, including reporting for use by the Executive Management Team, Board of Directors, funding bodies, and other key stakeholders
- Oversee the operation of the assets team ensuring all statutory, legislative and contractual obligations are actioned by due dates or according to schedules
- Contribute to the setting of annual organisation asset budgets and effective financial management of same
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory and contractual agreements
- Provide input into development activities, working collaboratively with the Executive Management Team, and Business Development Team to ensure development projects are delivered within scope, on schedule, and within contractual and legislated requirements
- Proactively lead and assist with duties/tasks related to risk minimisation and safety of yourself and others
ESSENTIAL
- Successful pass achieved on Pre-Employment validation and assessment including but not limited to Police Check, employment history and background check, qualifications, and skills validation
- Current Queensland Drivers Licence
- Successful pass achieved on Queensland’s Working with Children Check - Positive Notice Blue Card issued by Blue Card Services
- Clearance achieved on NDIS Worker Screening Check (or state equivalent)
SELECTION CRITERIA
- Highly motivated, achievement orientated and innovative professional with relevant qualification or extensive experience in Asset and facilities management, including legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining a high performing team ensuring to all HR principles
- Demonstrated experience in building relationships with external stakeholders to achieve strategic and operational goals
- Excellent leadership ability, people management, time management and organisational skills, preferably in a community housing environment, including demonstrated compassionate and empathetic people skills and a commitment to customer service
- Excellent communication, relationship building, negotiation and networking skills combined with significant ability to develop sound working partnerships with key stakeholders
- Confident and experienced in the use of desktop productivity tools and systems including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS Outlook/Express and the ability to quickly assimilate knowledge of new computing and other systems
- A working knowledge of the statutory requirements of the sector including relevant Acts of Parliament and other guidelines and standards and thorough knowledge of contemporary asset management practice and the requirements of public funding
- Good personal organisational skills with ability to work to tight deadlines and competing demands and commitment to daily work outputs
