ABOUT THE DIVISION
As announced as part of the October 2022 Budget, the Department of Finance is leading the development of a National Security Office Precinct (the Precinct) at York Park in Barton, ACT. The Precinct will provide a permanent solution to the critical accommodation and capability requirements of several national security and other Commonwealth agencies including the Office of National Intelligence and parts of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
As an enabling project to the Precinct's development, a multi-level car park will be constructed adjacent to the John Gorton Building in Parkes, ACT (referred to as the John Gorton Campus Car Park).

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Separate to the Departmental Security Team, the National Security Office Precinct (NSOP) Branch’s Security & Operations Team provides various protective security functions and advice to support the Project’s people in understanding and fulfilling specific security obligations.
To fill the role of Assistant Director - Information Security, the Branch is seeking an experienced government security operator with a strong background in implementing the Protective Security Policy Framework in complex working environments.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead Information Security and information management to support Project delivery and maintain high security standards, such as:
- Develop, maintain and review Information Security governance and Records Management policies and procedures at each stage of the Project lifecycle
- Chair regular Information Security management meetings
- Implement and administer a Project-specific Records Management strategy to meet relevant archiving legislation and best practice
- Procure/recruit and manage any additional or ad hoc records management personnel or subject-matter experts, should they be required in the future
- Be the steward of the Branch’s Electronic Data and Records Management System
- Manage partner service provider relationships to facilitate efficient ongoing operation and fitness for purpose of ICT infrastructure provided by Finance and other partners
- Oversee Branch-specific Business Continuity Plan development, testing and maintenance
- Liaise closely and regularly with key security advisory agencies, and with tenant agencies, on a variety of Information Security matters
- Work with fellow Assistant Directors to develop training and awareness materials which support Project participants’ in understanding and fulfilling their Information Security responsibilities
And:
- Work closely with and regularly brief the Director of Security & Operations
- Contribute to periodic security threat assessment, security risk assessment, and development of security risk mitigations
- Contribute to personnel and physical security administration of Project facilities and people from time to time
- Contribute to management of security incidents and investigations
- Other duties as directed.
