There's never been a better time to join the energy industry! At Western Power we're working towards our vision for a clean energy future and we're looking for diverse, passionate people to join our team of world leading experts.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Services Manager at our Perth CBD office, on a Full-Term permanent basis.

About this role

As the Commercial Services Manager you will be accountable for providing technical leadership to a small team of Commercial Services subject matter experts within the Commercial Function.

This team is accountable for providing a range of services relating to all contracts and commercial agreements to ensure the right commercial outcomes are achieved for Western Power. This position will provide the designing, planning, and execution of the required services to deliver the required outcomes that include, but are not limited, reducing organisational risks, delivering financial benefits, internal and external stakeholder engagement, and ensuring overall governance. The other key focus of this position is to provide effective leadership to all assigned resources to ensure the Commercial Services are delivered effectively and efficiently, while also fulfilling the duties of the Commercial Manager role.

  • Providing technical leadership for all assigned resources and the successful design, planning and execution of the Commercial Services to deliver planned and reactive engagements.

  • Management of the overall Commercial Services ensuring adherence to Western Power's standards and processes, applicable health and safety requirements, set performance standards, and monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of these.
  • Driving the management cadence of monitoring and reporting to deliver the objectives of the Commercial Management Services team and Western Power's strategic business objectives.
  • Ensuring effective communication, stakeholder engagement, and adequate management of change to enable the objectives of the Commercial Services to be achieved without unnecessary or unacceptable business disruption.
  • Providing direct formal leadership to the Commercial Management Services team, to enable integrated interactions with other teams, often with competing priorities and workloads, to ensure effective delivery of the services. This includes completing all employee lifecycle milestones, maintaining an engaged team, and developing capability needed.
  • Where required, working with other internal stakeholders including Heads of Function and Executives to identify and solve issues that may arise while delivering the services.
  • Ensuring that Commercial Services activities operate in line with internal policies, frameworks and procedures and comply with all relevant legislation and professional standards.
  • Building and maintaining a constructive and consultative working environment through open communication and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Providing commercial expertise to the wider Western Power business, including to the Commercial Function in strategy development, departure management, contract negotiations, dispute resolution including large, high risk complex transactions and commercial arrangements.
  • Providing technical leadership, advice and counsel, informal training, mentoring and development of other Western Power contracts professionals including Superintendent responsibilities and other general contract administration and supplier relationship management functionality.
  • As engaged by Senior Leadership, leading significant commercial and contract matters that require resolution to avoid major delivery and/or cost impact, providing options and evaluating associated risks and benefits to assist in decision making.
  • Ensuring that, while delivering the Commercial Management Services, Western Power's Contract Lifecycle Management Framework is applied consistently and effectively, as relevant to the internal and external stakeholders, and the directly managed resources.
