Phillip Riley has partnered with a fully-funded onshore renewables developer in its search for a BESS Development Manager to join its nimble Northern Beaches team.
Our client collaborates with local communities to develop projects from origination through to point of construction, with the aim to provide an overall positive impact to the community and the environment.
Fully backed by a leading clean energy and sustainability investment fund, they operate autonomously with an ability to 'get stuff done.'
About the Role
You will lead the development of standalone and hybrid BESS projects, with 3 + years of work secured in the pipeline.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Driving utility scale BESS projects from point of handover to the Development Manager, supporting a range of development activities up to financial close/point of construction;
- Manage planning, approvals, grid connections, and engineering activites in conjuction with external consultants, and contribute to EPC contract selection processes;
- Identify technical issues in the development process to ensure projects are set up for successful delivery;
- Build positive relationships with all key internal and external stakeholders, including landowners, planning/approvals authorities, TNSPs, consultants, and other business functions;
- Remain involved in projects through to construction phase from time to time, leveraging existing relationships with key project parties.
- Tertiary-level qualifications in a relevant discipline - an Electrical or Mechanical Engineering background will be highly regarded;
- 3-5 years of renewable energy project development experience, including an understanding of BESS technology;
- Capacity to take ownership of work and successfully drive development processes to achieve business outcomes;
- Collaborative approach to work, communicating effectively with internal and external colleaagues/counterparts;
- Ability to attend a Northern Beaches office location 4 days per week.
