About the role
An exciting opportunity is available for an Events Manager to work within our Fundraising Marketing and Communications team to deliver commemorative and non-commemorative events at RSL Victoria. You’ll be at the helm of one of Melbourne’s most iconic events, the ANZAC Day Dawn Service at the Shrine, an annual event that attracts over 50,000 people.
You will work with veterans, volunteers, representatives from local and state governments, community partners and a committed team of RSL staff. Along with major events, you will be responsible for the delivery of a broad range of external and internal facing events and, in collaboration with others, you will leverage your knowledge of the events industry to help develop and deliver a revenue positive corporate events program.
Our mission is to support veterans and their families and you will play an integral part in achieving this by ensuring commemoration and corporate events align with our strategic plan. You will provide expertise and guidance delivering events, with full end to end event management, as required.
You'll work closely with all areas of the charity to ensure we maximise opportunities across the organisation including but not limited to events for fundraising, commemoration, veterans, members, volunteers and employees.
Your role will involve;
- Manage RSL Victoria’s event calendar which includes major public and corporate events.
- Lead relevant working groups to ensure all stakeholders are involved, where appropriate, to optimise the success of events.
- Planning, execution and review of RSL led and partnered events.
- Work with commemorations event members to manage ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day activities.
- Coordinate third party events held at ANZAC House.
- Manage event budgets and work within sponsorship and grant funding arrangements.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, community organisations, service providers, government bodies to facilitate engagement and successful delivery events for RSL Victoria.
This is a stand alone, full time role based at ANZAC House, Melbourne, flexibility in working hours will be required in line with event needs. An outstanding opportunity to contribute to the veteran community and truly make a difference.
About you
As an innovative and enthusiastic event superstar you will have a proven track record delivering high quality major events which includes public events. You’ll have experience as an event manager, or demonstrable ability to take a career step upwards. Your attention to detail, superior organisational skills, stakeholder engagement and understanding of event management practices will see you succeed in this role.
Other essentials:
- Tertiary qualification in business, events, hospitality management, public relations, marketing or relevant field (preferred).
- Well-developed communication skills with a focus on providing strong customer service and outstanding negotiation ability.
- Ability to be agile and make sound judgement and informed decisions quickly to ensure events meet objectives, outcomes, regulations and guidelines, safety and compliance.
- An understanding of military service or the Ex-Service sector is desirable.
