About our Technical Capability team:
Our SEQ Asset business are responsible for delivering infrastructure services, construction, maintenance, asset management and development. Our culture is based around safety and performance.
We have a growing profile given the investment in SEQ rail. In addition, providing support to Queensland Rail’s regional team and their strategy to move rail freight.
The Technical Capability group was formed to bring together our vast expertise and capability across rail engineering disciplines from across SEQ.
As the General Manager Technical Capability, you will report directly to our Executive General Manager SEQ Assets. Your team consists of seven direct reports consisting of five Senior Managers, Business Support Officer and Program Engineer, you will also have indirect oversight of our large engineering and technical professionals covering areas of Telecommunications and Operational Systems, Track and Civil, Signalling, Electrical and Rollingstock.
About the role:
This position presents you with the opportunity to provide technical advice across rail assets of rollingstock, infrastructure and stations, work with an amazing team to improve design and commissioning processes with a lens of value to the customer and formally establish our service offering in rail Technical Capability that is unrivalled across Australia.
You will bring your strong leadership experience to guide the team in providing services to inform asset strategies, asset standards, maintenance solutions and develop aligned technical and safe working capability.
You will help the team form and deliver their vision of value-focused engineering and technical support services. This includes consultancy advice, design, construction validation, commissioning, and maintenance reliability advice and support for SEQ network infrastructure and customer assets (rollingstock and facilities) including other internal and external stakeholders.
About you:
- High level of senior leadership and management skills in providing strategic direction for technical service teams within a complex commercial, safety and customer-oriented environment.
- Engineering background with knowledge of railway infrastructure, technical systems, maintenance systems and methodologies.
- Demonstrated skills in using creative and innovative techniques in driving change to achieve functional transformation.
- Strong influencing, interpersonal, consultation, relationship building and negotiation skills that build and sustain productive relationships and partnerships.
