ABOUT THE ORGANISATION:
Gympie Flexible School is a Catholic School in the Edmund Rice tradition with approximately 100 young people enrolled. There are 22 Flexible Schools (FS) throughout Australia who offer a full-time and multiyear secondary education program for young people who have disengaged from mainstream schooling. Enrolled young people may express a broad range of complex education and social needs and FSs respond with a variety of flexible and innovative teaching and learning practices including vocational planning and the development of social connectedness.
The purpose of a Flexible School is to provide young people with a varied and holistic set of learning experiences supporting them to identify and pursue an individual transition to adulthood, employment, further education and training and social connectedness.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Gympie Flexible School is looking for an energetic Grounds and Maintenance Officer who is responsible for carrying out Grounds and Maintenance tasks efficiently and effectively and acts under the direction of Head of Campus.
This position is continuing, part-time (13 hours per week / 26 hours per fortnight - possibility of more hour's TBC), commencing as soon as negotiated.

The successful application will:
- Maintenance, development and improvement of school grounds to improve amenities including:
- Maintain the gardens including grass, trees, shrubs, plants and flowers.
- Daily spot cleaning of walkways and high use areas;
- Mowing, whipper-snipping and weeding of all grass areas.
- Pruning and trimmings trees and shrubs; and
- Cleaning and Maintenance of bins and doing dump runs.
- Maintaining equipment including lawn mowers, whipper snippers and chainsaws, amongst other equipment.
ABOUT YOU:
- Current Queensland C Class Driver’s Licence;
- Ability to obtain a valid Working with Children Check (Blue Card) prior to commencing;
- Aptitude for, and ability to carry our gardening and plant care;
- Ability to carry out minor maintenance / repairs / cleaning of school outdoor facilities
- Understanding of PPE compliance issues and use of appropriate PPE at all times;
- Ability to work successfully as part of a team and independently;
Desirable:
- Formal qualifications in relevant field of horticulture;
- Knowledge and/or experience in the maintenance of plants, landscaping, tree planting and pruning.
