Your new role
As the Lodge Manager, a senior position within the business, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations, ensuring a smooth and efficient guest experience that exceeds expectations. Reporting directly to the General Manager, your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of duties, from supervising staff and managing budgets, to overseeing maintenance and implementing policies and procedures for lodge operations, as well as managing and fostering community development.
This is a hands-on role which will involve managing a dedicated team, recruiting new members, and ensuring that high standards of service are always met. You will have the opportunity to oversee the management and development of the restaurant team, coordinate tour groups, and ensure returning guests and front-of-house duties are handled with the utmost professionalism. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a personable leadership style, clear communication skills, and a passion for people. What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this position, you will have previous experience in hotel/ lodge management of a similar size. Your experience should include data entry, customer service, ordering, staff supervision, budgeting, debtor control, stock control, restaurant supervision, and proficiency with online booking and control systems to name a few. You should be able to manage staff and rosters, develop and implement budgets and achieve agreed financial targets. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn other systems is required. Experience using Room master and Site minder would be highly desirable.
Your personal abilities should include the capacity to follow set policies and procedures, work in a team environment, build positive relationships, and liaise with departmental managers. An understanding of and sensitivity to the cultural background of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is essential, as is the ability to work in such an environment. Finally, you will need certain licences and certifications, including a driver’s licence, a food supervisor’s certificate, RSA, RMLV, and certificates of hospitality and/or a degree in hotel management or a related field.
