About the position

We are currently seeking a Management Accountant based at our head office in Silverwater, Sydney. This is a development role within the Finance function for the business unit in which the Management Accountant will partner with the Equipment and Service segments to support the business team by providing accurate and timely financial and KPI reports that highlight critical business drivers, opportunities for improvement, as well as significant market trends that impact overall performance.

The role requires someone with a strong sense of self-motivation who is driven by curiosity for the world and is always looking for new ways to make continuous improvements and to add value. Whilst reporting to the Financial Controller, the role will receive great development and mentoring from a highly qualified and experienced Management Team. You will be part of a high performing and collaborative team with a fun and supportive culture.

Key responsibilities 

As the Management Accountant within the Finance team, you will:

  • Participate in the month-end process to ensure the accuracy of the underlying data, which supports the financial reports, as well as understanding the structure of the data.
  • Utilize Dashboard reporting technology, prepare and publish accurate information that provides insight into the operational performance of a business unit, and highlights trends in business performance, cost drivers, and market focus of the unit.
  • Improvement of processes through close collaboration with operational staff utilizing the ITW toolbox.
  • Engage actively in various strategic planning stages, participate in Business Team meetings, and actively participate in achieving the Outlook numbers put forward by the Business Team with valuable and accurate information provided by you.
  • Assess the current general ledger structure and cost allocation methods to ensure the current structure is flexible enough to provide financial data with accurate information about the performance of the business unit.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement / streamlining. 
  • Ensure financial procedures adhere to the company policies.

About you

  • Successfully completed or working towards a CIMA, CPA, CA, or other recognized management accounting qualifications is a desirable skill set that you would bring to this role to complement the company's objectives.
  • With 1-2 years of experience in equipment sales or service, you will be well suited for the challenges associated with this role. This experience will enable you to add value by bringing outside points of view to the role.
  • The ability to communicate complex concepts in an easy-to-understand manner is a vital component of the position, and prior experience with modelling using Excel along with knowledge of the latest reporting tools like Power BI and COGNOS will equip you with the necessary skills to fulfill the responsibility. However, we would be happy to assist the ideal candidate with training in the Reporting Tool if necessary.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Pronto Xi or Microsoft Dynamics is desirable but not essential as your ability to learn and assist with the reporting and modelling process is crucial.
  • It is an ideal role for someone with strong desire to develop within the company, or an analyst who is seeking to gain a deeper understanding of business fundamentals prior to accelerating their career growth. The ideal candidate should be ambitious, possess a strong curiosity about data, be willing to work with and collaborate with cross-functional teams, and be meticulous when it comes to detail.
  • Candidate from other disciplines, such as engineering, information technology, and actuarial science, are encouraged to apply who are eager to build a career in a commercially focused business role.
