Job Description
Reporting to the National Payroll Manager, the position includes the following responsibilities:
- Timely and accurate preparation of pay process
- Investigation of time management system discrepancies and/or anomalies
- Data input and/or collation associated with the preparation of periodic payrolls
- Preparation of worksheets to support superannuation payments, payroll tax remittances and Work Cover remuneration statements
- Administrative assistance with Work Cover issues
- Contributing to the update of the payroll system and related procedures for any changes in statutory requirements
- Reconciliation of payroll related payments
- General administrative duties, including filing and responding to queries from external parties, as may be required from time to time
- Any other duties associated with the efficient functioning of the payroll department as may be requested from time to time by the payroll manager
- Assistance with End of Month and End of Financial Year activities
Desired Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- Proven work experience as a Payroll Officer with significant award interpretation duties
- Proven experience in interpreting and applying industrial instruments
- Problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to work through issues with some complexity
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of the organization
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Strong interpersonal, numerical, analytical, written and verbal communication skills, to provide effective presentation and explanation of payroll matters
- Flexibility in managing changing priorities, deadlines and opportunities
- Understanding of salary packaging
- Effective negotiation and influencing style with great relationship building skills
- Ability to identify risk, solve problems and manage multiple priorities
- Has sound knowledge of relevant legislation in the payroll industry
