What is the role?
The Payroll Officer, reporting to the Payroll Manager, will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for approximately 800 employees on a weekly basis. This position involves collaborating with the Payroll Manager and HR Team in an end-to-end capacity, encompassing responsibilities from administrative tasks to EFT payments. The role is based at our Support Office in South Bank, Brisbane.
Key Responsibilities;
- Supporting the full function payroll, 800 + pays on a weekly basis (End to End);
- Weekly and monthly reporting on payroll figures;
- Award and legislation interpretation;
- Calculating back payment and adjustments if required;
- Utilising the Time and Attendance System (Time Target/Human Force) to extract time sheets and process leave;
- Processing allowances, payroll tax, reimbursements, workers compensation deductions and superannuation payments;
- Set up of new starters and managing employee details;
- Redundancy and termination calculations;
- Monitor and manage correspondence, and respond and resolve all payroll queries;
- Ensuring adherence to payroll deadlines from all internal parties;
- Contributor to end to end payroll process review and improvement initiatives;
- Complete proactive payroll checks to ensure compliance and best practise governance.
About you?
You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced food and beverage environment, and have excellent and effective communication and interpersonal skills. As well as having a confident and positive personality, you will possess:
- Previous strong experience as a Payroll Officer within a Corporate / Professional Services Industry;
- Proven ability to handle a large volume of weekly payments across multiple entities and employee types;
- Experience within an award governed environment preferably within the retail or hospitality industry;
- Experience with the Sage Micro Pay payroll system and Human Force time and attendance system;
- Strong attention to detail, knowledge of legislative/ statutory requirements for superannuation PAYG Tax, compensation and termination of pay processing across all Australian states.
- Prior experience processing wages of New Zealand entities advantageous but not essential.
