This position is located within the Governance & Economic Directorate They are currently seeking a Production Manager (Infrastructure & Technology) 12 Month contarct (maternity) / $38.09 p/h Starting 20/02/17 Purpose of the position Project Manager is responsible for effective management of a range of FM built environment/building based projects from development to completion, incorporating design, research, analysis, interpretation, consultancy, delivery and completion Key Tasks Project management of built environment projects including new facilities, redevelopments, extensions and refurbishments, which may include major and medium capital projects or major and medium maintenance projects of varying scope and complexity Design, consult and implement solutions to complex and unusual issues associated with facility development and environmental sustainable design Establish and manage inter departmental project teams, especially for major projects, from facility conception to commissioning to ensure appropriate involvement/consultation of relevant stakeholders occurs throughout the project Manage various project tasks including: o Prepare project plans o Development of options during feasibility stages o Development of scope documents o Facilitation of inputs by various stakeholders o Cost and budget management at all stages, with & without use of a Quantity Surveyor o Prepare design briefs o Engagement and coordination of consultants o Development of specifications and contract documentation o Coordination of construction tender activities o Construction supervision and contract administration o Post occupancy evaluation Prepare status reports and embrace pro-active reporting on projects Provision of specialist technical advice within and external to Infrastructure department, including senior management Identify and resolve risk management issues (including implementing preventative practices) Build and maintain professional relationships to ensure achievement of project outcomes to high customer satisfaction Provide leadership to team members and contractors engaged in the delivery of service delivery requirements Effective communication with a wide range of community members Investigate issues and draft correspondence, including formal letters, project reports and Council reports Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and Council policy Assist with the planning of FM unit activities Assist in whole-of-life asset survey of Council buildings Assist with policy development Qualifications and Experience Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent experience Proven track record of project management success, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a built environment Advanced computer competency and understanding of Microsoft software applications High quality communication, people skills and an ability to adhere to deadlines Experience in a systematic approach to OH&S A current driver’s licence is an inherent requirement of the job Key Selection Criteria 1. A proven track record of project management success, (with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a built environment) 2. Capacity to work both autonomously and in a self-managed team environment on a range of diverse issues, to meet stringent project deadlines 3. Highly effective interpersonal skills, incorporating written and verbal communication, negotiation, facilitation, problem solving and mediation skills 4. Tertiary qualifications in engineering, project management and/or a relevant discipline 5. Ability to lead, influence and gain cooperation from staff, clients and members of the public and build cooperative sustainable relationships and drive effective sustainable design outcomes 6. Capacity to plan, prioritise and organise own work and project resources in an environment of change and competing demands 7. Advanced computer competency and understanding of Microsoft software applications 8. Licenced to drive vehicles to 1.5 tonnes GCM (car)
