About the Role
Teys Australia is seeking an experienced Purchasing Officer to join the Purchasing team based at our Biloela processing site in Queensland. The role will be responsible for assisting the Purchasing Supervisor in site stock control and supply to ensure the site operates productively. This role will ensure the stock requirements of raw material, ingredients, packaging materials and other stock requirements.
Role responsibilities:
- Assist strategic sourcing and negotiation activities aimed at securing supply arrangements
- Provide operational input into the procurement process to establish strategic plant purchasing
- Provide administration and compliance support for supplier service level agreements and contracts
- Support the development and deployment of all necessary procurement controls in accordance with corporate policies and standards
- Research, analyse, review and report on indirect cost minimisation and control where required to assist in company cost reduction initiatives
- Ensure goods and services to the site are uninterrupted and supplied at the highest quality level
- Provide support as required by the Purchasing Supervisor with the monitoring, auditing and reporting on supply and procurement performance
- Efficiently maintain inventory levels for the site
- Ensure all measures are taken to maintain company and site Safety Management Systems
- Implement and monitor control procedures for routine operations to prevent or minimise environmental harm
- Such other work as directed by the Purchasing Supervisor, Facility Asset Manager and/or General Manager Operations
About You
It is essential that you have the following experience/skills:
- Formal training in Procurement.
- Formal training in Inventory Management.
- At least three (3) years’ experience in a stores/warehousing or a manufacturing environment
- Highly organised, timely, and detail oriented.
- Advanced computer and numeracy skills, with superior working knowledge of JDE and Microsoft Office
Desirable:
- Relevant meat/value add industry experience.
- Forklift operator’s licence
- Knowledge of local suppliers for both consumable and non-consumable goods
