Respiratory Scientist - Permanent Part Time
An exciting opportunity currently exists for an experienced, enthusiastic and well organised Respiratory Scientist to join our team. This position is a permanent part time with flexibility to work extra hours from time to time as required.
Norwest Respiratory & Sleep Disorders (NRSD) is a busy, well-established specialist practice located in Sydney’s Northwest. Our practice is unique in our approach to total patient care, and you will be an integral part of the process. You will be working in a friendly, supportive, and collaborative environment which will draw on your skills and enthusiasm.
At NRSD, we provide expert care on a wide range of respiratory and sleep conditions including asthma, COPD, bronchiectasis, lung cancer, interstitial and environmental lung diseases, respiratory failure and sleep disorders. Our Respiratory Scientists play a vital role in our service delivery to patients and practitioners.
The Role
The successful applicant will perform specialised tests including complex lung function and bronchial challenge testing in accordance with laboratory protocols. The role facilitates and promotes patient safety and quality of care, while practicing as a Respiratory Scientist in accordance with the Australian and New Zealand Society of Respiratory Science (ANZSRS) policies and guidelines.
Detailed Summary of Duties
- Operate and maintain equipment within the lab according to laboratory manufacturer’s procedures. This includes Calibration, quality control, preventative maintenance, basic trouble shooting and infection control / cleaning prior to and after each patient.
- Work in accordance with the laboratory procedures manual and international guidelines.
- Achieve accurate, reliable, and repeatable measurements of a patient’s respiratory function.
- Analyse, calculate and present the results for reporting.
- General lab administration duties.
- Maintaining of stock levels & consumables.
Essential Criteria
- Bachelor of Science in Physiology/Exercise Science or equivalent qualification.
- Member of ANZSRS is preferable.
- Effective written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Commitment to work effectively within a team environment.
