Where you'll be working
The position is based at Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospital in the heart of the Sydney CBD, however, will be required to attend hospitals and facilities throughout the District.

The primary purpose of the Media and Communications Manager is to be accountable for the development and coordination of a communication team to achieve successful program/campaign outcomes for SESLHD, its facilities and associated institutions.
The role is to maximise positive communications opportunities through the development and implementation of successful public relations strategies involving media programs, issues management, internal and external communications programs, publications and media/ministerial event management.
It is responsible for effective public relations and Communications policies and procedures.
Selection Criteria: * Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in public relations, communications and/or journalism.
- A strong understanding of the workings of government, state health issues and the media industry.
- Proven experience in issues and crisis management, including formulation of appropriate responses.
- Experience in strategy development and implementation.
- Ability to manage and guide a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including corporate communication materials, speech writing skills and experience in preparing government and ministerial documents.
- Proven experience in high level consultation processes with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational skills and working to tight deadlines.
