The Opportunity
The Economic Development and Smart Cities Unit is currently seeking to appoint a Smart City Project Officer to join the team. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering the actions associated with the Smart City Strategic Framework implementation plan and driving the Smart City Program across the whole organisation. In addition to this, you will be responsible for fostering strong working relationships with Smart City service providers and contractors, ensuring all Smart City related projects across Council are interconnected and working in synergy.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the delivery of the Smart City Strategic Framework - Implementation Plan
- Manage relationships with our Smart City vendors to ensure equipment is operating as expected.
- Plan and deliver the monthly Smart City Project Working Group meetings.
- Work with various Council departments both to help them utilise existing Smart City data, and to also understand what their needs are for data.
- Monitor Smart City data and when applicable access data to assist with queries.
- From time to time provide support for other initiatives delivered by the Economic Development & Smart Cities unit as directed by the Coordinator.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have the following:
- A tertiary qualification in Business Management, Project Management or a related discipline with some relevant experience or lesser formal qualification with substantial experience in the planning and delivery of Smart City Technology and Data projects.
- Previous experience in overseeing and monitoring the installation and integration of Smart City Technology within a local government environment.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise resources, multiple tasks and stakeholder needs, to successfully deliver projects within required deadlines and budgets.
- Experience in leading Project Working Groups to deliver outcomes.
- Ability to manage, coordinate and support external contractors and project working groups to achieve the required objectives.
- Well-developed computer skills in the use of MS Office packages, GIS systems and website development using various cloud software packages.
- Smart City, Data Analytics or Information Technology qualifications will be highly regarded.
