Position Information

Stratford Public School is a small rural school situated in the village of Stratford, 13kms south of Gloucester. The school's population draws from the villages of Wards River, Craven and Stratford as well as the rural areas in between. Currently, the school has an enrolment of 11, with numbers fluctuating between 17 and 8 over the past 10 years. We currently have 9% Aboriginal students.

The school employs experienced, professional and caring staff who provide excellent educational programs. There is one temporary teacher, two administrative staff and one Teaching Principal. The small class size allows teachers to devote more time and attention to individual students through personalised learning.  The school is well resourced with student access to a range of technologies. 

Stratford Public School enjoys support from both the school and wider community. We work closely, in a professional partnership, with a supportive small schools network in order to provide cohesive professional learning for all staff and drive teacher and student improvement.

To improve student outcomes in Literacy and Numeracy we will work closely across our network to facilitate professional learning in high impact teaching strategies . Professional learning in high impact teaching strategies will provide opportunities to improve teacher practice and ensure students achieve expected growth and attainment in their learning. Departmental support staff will be utilised to build understanding on how to do this successfully.

Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary.

  •   Exemplary Instructional Leadership skills in the areas of literacy and numeracy with a focus on quality evidence-based teaching.
  • Capacity to undertake the teaching, leadership and administrative/ management roles of a Teaching Principal.
  • Ability to lead and drive a culture of continuous improvement underpinned by research-informed pedagogy and high expectations
  • Capacity to lead in relation to Aboriginal community and education, driving programs and initiatives to achieve high quality outcomes and an understanding of Aboriginal culture for both Aboriginal students and the wider community.

 

 

General Selection Criteria

1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex Public School focused on the delivery of high quality education

2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs

3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community

4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning

5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning

6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people

Classification Structure for Principals:

The Crown Employees (Teachers in Schools and Related Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award 2017 details the new principal classification structure based on complexity of schools which commenced in 2016. The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Teaching Principal Level 1 for 2024.
