Role Overview
Reporting into the Financial Accountant, this Assistant Accountant will be responsible for the management and preparation of high volume Accounts Payable, Cashflow forecasting and reporting as well as assisting with month-end reporting and Statutory requirements. On a weekly basis you will process batch payments, update and maintain cashflow reporting in detail and assist with month-end requirements.
Prepare and lodge the BAS as well as prepayments and accruals for month end and assist with the balance sheet reconciliation, Fixed asset management and with the budgeting process.
Responsibilities
- Accounts Payable (data entry, reconciliation of monthly creditors statements, payments, etc.)
- Accounts Receivables (issuing tax invoices, applying receipts, updating weekly debtors report, etc.)
- Manage Amex payments (Monitor and maintain statement balances)
- Daily bank reconciliation
- Updating daily cash flow spreadsheet and monitoring cash balances.
- Balance sheet reconciliation between month-end closings.
- General ledger reconciliation (prepayments, aged creditors & debtors, etc.)
- Monthly confirmation of intercompany balances and following up on differences.
- Prepare and lodge monthly BAS's
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management reports.
- Assist in the preparation of the Annual Budget and 3 Way Forecast.
- Maintain Fixed Assets register (addition and disposal of assets and reconciling depreciation reports with trial balance)
- Prepare and lodge - Annual taxable payments (TPAR) and Payment times reporting.
- Assist on daily ad hoc tasks.
Candidate Profile
You are highly energetic and proactive. You are Accounting qualified (CA or CPA- complete or in the process) and have strong experience in a high-volume environment. Ideally coming out of construction or a project environment with exceptional communication skills that you leverage in shaping positive working relationships. You are flexible in working through ambiguity in a fast-paced environment, have a passion for continuous improvement and an exceptional attention to detail.
