Join our forward-thinking accounting firm in a dedicated bookkeeping role focused on helping our clients keep their books in order and supporting our team of accountants with accurate and up to date financial information. In addition to managing typical bookkeeping tasks for our growing client base, you’ll be involved in troubleshooting day to day Xero queries, BAS preparation and lodgement, preparing periodic reporting packs, generating tax portal reports and assembling information to support finance applications.
Additionally, you’ll have ample opportunity to proactively look for ways to help clients better keep their records by undertaking Xero file reviews, identifying training needs, and taking those points to them.
With a growing and varied client base, this bookkeeping role also comes with the opportunity to grow your own portfolio of clients and run a dedicated bookkeeping business, with full support to help you do so.
In addition to providing bookkeeping support to our client base, this position also provides operational accounting support to our Practice Manager and is responsible for a range of financial duties for our own practice including accounts payable and receivable.
Roles and responsibilities associated with the position include:
- Liaise with clients monthly and quarterly as needed to manage activity statement processes
- Bank Reconciliations
- Process payroll on a needs basis for some clients
- Prepare BAS / PAYG
- Credit Card reconciliations
- Accounts Receivable management and follow up
- Assisting with ad hoc projects and administrative duties as required
Musts to be successful in the role - you:
- enjoy helping clients and being their go-to person
- can work to timeframes and juggle priorities
- communicate effectively; and
- are organised and detail orientated.
Ideally, you:
- have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in either public practice or a senior bookkeeping role in a Bookkeeping firm,
- have managed a multiple client base,
- are a bit of a Xero guru.
Most importantly, you fit with our core values: Care, Curiosity and Connection.
This is a full time role with our business and standard work hours are between 9am and 3pm. While you’ll be required to work in our CBD office for the first 3 months, after that time you’ll have flexibility to work from home Thursdays and Fridays should you choose.
Aside from a flexible work environment, competitive market salary, and the opportunity to grow a bookkeeping business yourself - you’ll be joining a firm that possesses an inclusive ownership culture - where team members actively participate in the running of the business, continuously look for ways to improve it and are recognised and rewarded for doing so via our individual and team based incentives, also via our employee share ownership plan.
We’ve also been recognised as an Australian Accounting Awards Innovator of the Year, and BCorp’s Best in the World for Workers - so rest assured you’re joining a growing business that likes to do things differently, is going places and having fun along the way.
