About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the leaders in Paper goods and an iconic FMCG household brand.

The Business Development Manager – Emerging, Alternate & Ecommerce Channels role is responsible for developing and seeking existing and new opportunities in New, Alternate and Ecommerce channels. The focus of the BDM and critical to this role includes building scope and awareness of the channels in various marketplaces, understanding the size of the opportunity, and growing and/or creating the most effective and efficient product and distribution mix.

Reporting to the National Business Manager, this new role is responsible for the achievement of defining market opportunities, delivering on agreed sales, distribution, and profitability targets primarily within paper, towel, and facial categories within the designated Customer Accounts. A collaborative relationship within the broader independents team, Category and Marketing teams, and Supply chain will also be required.

Success in this role will position you for future career development opportunities within our business.

Your responsibilities in this role will include:

  • Deliver revenue, expenditure, profit and category share/growth targets.
  • Effective management of customer relationships and joint business plans.
  • Effective management of the category review process for all categories to key customers.
  • Lead the post evaluation process of key category business initiatives within key customers to identify key learnings for application to future opportunities.
  • Develop strong, effective business relationships with key customer personnel.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with other internal functions to deliver business solutions.
  • Effective sharing of any insight or marketing material that will assist in the building / tailoring ranging within customers.

What will make you successful:

  • Desire to have 2-5 years Account Management and/or Account Executive experience in grocery with experience in Grocery or Other Customer channel.
  • Tertiary Qualified (Business/Commerce Degree)
  • Demonstrated advanced relationship building and strategic thinking experience.
  • High level communication skills and ability to openly express ideas and listen and build relationships.
  • Demonstrated business acumen which initiates change/continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated analytical ability and problem solving for better solutions.
  • Ability to deal with complexity, detail and meet deadlines.
  • Process driven with strong customer focus.
