Join the Forensic and Scientific Services unit on a permanent full-time basis. The Clinical Assistant will prepare, process, register and deliver Pathology and Public Health samples to internal Public Health Laboratories.
The successful candidate will prioritise specimens according to importance to meet urgent specimen turnaround times.
Your key responsibilities
You will be required to fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with the Queensland Public Service values.
- Adhere to define service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken.
- Receive, code and verify correct details of specimens and request forms that are submitted from external and internal clients.
- Priorities urgent specimens for processing.
- Deliver specimens to internal laboratories.
- Perform general cleaning duties in Public Health Property Point.
- Comply with and utilise procedures, policies, regulations and standards which impact the position including Queensland Health Code of Conduct, Human Resource Management, Workplace Health and Safety and Equal Employment Opportunity and Anti-Discrimination.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Possess or be able to rapidly acquire knowledge and skills in the receipting, labelling, verifying, processing, registration and delivery of both patient related and public health samples.
- Possess accurate data entry skills and proficiency in excel.
- Ability to perform duties while working in a multi-skilled and multi-disciplinary team and communicate effectively with peers, professional and technical staff.
- Ability to actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety and ethical behaviour.
