About Us: 

Austchilli is a leading food manufacturing and farming business based in Bundaberg, Queensland.  Our diverse business is made up of fresh chillies (we are the largest chilli grower in Australia), herb and vegetable purees and our retail brands, AvoFresh & New Fresh Farms. We're passionate about developing creative food solutions for our customers. Established for almost 30 years, we are Australian family owned & operated and employ approximately 150 people. 

We’re looking for an innovative and results driven Commercial Sales Manager with a proven track record in driving sales growth, managing top tier customers and inspiring sales teams. 

Role Purpose:  

Reporting to the General Manager, you'll be at the forefront of driving sales growth for our business.  

This is a hands on role, where approximately half of your time will be spent managing & mentoring the sales team (2 x National Account Managers and 1 x Sales Support Co-ordinator) and the other half will be customer facing with a focus on new business development. 

Ideally based on site in Bundaberg, your role will be vital in establishing new relationships and nurturing existing customers across the Retail, B2B & food service channels in both Australia and New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities:     

  • Plan and implement strategies to achieve the sales team KPI’s and budgets
  • Develop strategies to increase customer base and level of customer engagement
  • Develop strategies to gain new customers
  • Develop and maintain effective customer relationships by developing a deep understanding of customer needs 
  • Develop annual sales channel plans that look for “white space” opportunities to deliver sales targets and profit across all relevant channels – Retail, B2B & Food Service 
  • Lead and inspire a team of three - Two x National Account Managers and a Sales Support Co-ordinator 
  • Utilise and champion the CRM system 
  • Monthly reporting, analysis and presenting of sales performance to identify gaps or opportunities 
  • Work with cross functional business units (Finance, Operations, Marketing, R&D etc) to deliver commercially viable, innovative customer solutions and to ensure our products are delivered on time and in full
  • Keep the company up to date on industry trends, opportunities and threats

To be successful, you will:  

  • Have a minimum of 10 years experience working in sales within an FMCG/Food Manufacturing environment 
  • Have evidence of success in achieving sales targets and market share growth 
  • Have a “hunter mindset” with extensive experience in new business development and B2B sales 
  • Have demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of sales strategies and customer specific plans 
  • Be relationship focused with the ability to grow existing customer partnerships
  • Have experience in leading and motivating a team of sales professionals 
  • Be self motivated, the ability to think on your feet and be a natural problem solver
  • Have a strong commercial acumen - experience analysing sales data and uncovering customer opportunities & insights 
  • Have exceptional negotiation, communication, and presentation skills
  • Think innovatively and can “pull back the curtains” to find opportunities 
  • Be proficient in sales forecasting and managing a CRM tool 
  • Be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally when required.

This is a full time role, ideally based in Bundaberg. Re-location expenses to be provided for the successful candidate.
