The NDIS Commission’s Regulatory Operations Division is seeking highly motivated and talented problem solvers to contribute to compliance activities that impact the regulatory actions of the NDIS Commission. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to contribute to regulatory actions that will ultimately have a positive impact on the lives of NDIS participants across Australia. You will be part of a dynamic and supportive tem that develops and implements cutting-edge problem-solving methodologies to tackle complex challenges within a regulation space. Successful candidates will join the Compliance and Enforcement Branch within the Regulatory Operations Division.
Key duties
The successful candidate will be reporting an Assistant Director within one of our teams.
The successful candidate will undertake the following key duties:
- Lead compliance activities into disability service providers, disability support workers and their response to issues of safety, well-being and quality of support services for people with a disability. Compliance and investigations work will be undertaken in accordance with the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013 (Cth), Rules, the Commissioner’s policies and procedures, the Regulatory Powers (Standard Provisions) Act 2014 (Regulatory Powers Act) and relevant Commonwealth legislative requirements.
- Liaise with other government agencies and Taskforce partners, share information, produce briefing papers including recommendations to address quality and safeguarding risks arising from fraud and misuse of NDIS plan funds
- Engage across the full range of the NDIS Commission’s functions, identifying and fostering opportunities to deploy cross-functional strategies to address compliance issues
- Work with individual providers and workers to assist them in understanding their obligations, and where non-compliance may have occurred, guide them to address those issues and risks.
- Undertake research and analysis to develop compliance responses that are risk-based and proportionate to the type of alleged or suspected non-compliance and breaches.
Capability of our ideal candidate
Our ideal candidate will have a positive contemporary attitude to people with disability and have the following capabilities:
- Well-developed understanding of compliance processes and activities, including application of statutory powers, collection of evidence, assessment of conduct against statutory obligations and implementing of compliance and enforcement responses
- Strong experience in undertaking compliance reviews to achieve the objectives of a compliance function
- Demonstrated capacity to develop and sustain excellent working relationships within the team, the NDIS Commission more broadly, and with a variety of external and internal stakeholder groups
Essential and desirable requirements
To be considered for appointment to this role, applicants must be able to demonstrate that they possess:
- Experience in a compliance role with a regulatory agency, law enforcement agency or other government agency is highly desirable;
- A Diploma or Certificate IV in Government (Investigations/Regulatory Compliance/Compliance and Risk Management) or equivalent is highly desirable;
- Experience in using information and evidence gathering powers of the kind available to the NDIS Commission, and seeking outcomes (administrative;
civil; criminal) of the kind available to the NDIS Commission is highly desirable; - Knowledge of the NDIS and an understanding of the role of the NDIS Commission is highly desirable;
