Our Opportunity
Civcon is seeking a motivated and experienced HSEQ Manager who is accountable for all health, safety, environment and quality tasks whilst developing a safety-focused culture. As HSEQ Manager, you will report directly to the General Manager / Director and coordinate the implementation of the HSEQ systems for all projects.
The HSEQ Manager is required to manage the Company HSEQ management system, and to provide Civcon personnel with guidance and support in the areas of health and safety, environment and quality, towards the achievement of Civcon HSEQ goals and objectives.
Your Responsibilities
Your duties will include but not limited to the following:
- Leading the Company Safety Culture;
- Maintaining Civcon's ISO 45001 | 9001 | 14001 and Federal Safety Commission accreditations;
- Ensuring systems and practices are in place to support effective risk elimination, minimisation and management activities;
- Manage injury management, work cover and return to work programs;
- Ensuring that current legislation requirements are met and exceeded;
- Lead all investigations into accidents, incidents and near misses to understand the cause and recommend realistic solutions and drive the execution of changes;
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice quality vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance;
- Conduct training sessions for management, supervisors, workers and external parties on health and safety practices and legislation;
- Coordinate and undertake regular audits and inspections covering management systems, safe work procedures, behavioural safety and preventative measures;
- Provide timely and expert Safety, Quality and Environmental advice and assistance
- Take a lead role in the review and continuous improvement of our safety documentation
About You
This position will suit someone who understands the basics of influencing and educating others on health, safety, environment, quality and who enjoys sharing knowledge and working with others. Someone who is comfortable in having meetings with clients whilst going to project sites and checking on employees and the works that are being undertaken.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma/Certificate IV Occupational Health & Safety minimum or Tertiary training;
- Minimum 7-10 years' experience with minimum 5 years experience in the Civil Construction Industry;
- Working knowledge of HSE and Work Cover requirements and implementation;
- Knowledge of process auditing principles and practices;
- Strong interpersonal skills to work with diverse stakeholders and all levels of the business;
- A strong passion for delivering safety and quality;
- Computer literacy skills and competent with MS Office;
- Valid drivers licence;
- Comprehensive knowledge EHS Standards: Federal, State and Local Legislation, Codes of Practice, Australian Standards.
