The VEC has a well established cyber and Information Security program that includes a SOC, SIEM, and DFIR.  The VEC is at a high degree of maturity and seeks to continuously maintain and improve the safety and security of electoral services.  This is a newly created position that reflects executive recognition of this important function.

What you will be doing

Reporting directly to the Head of Cyber & Information Security, this role will be responsible for:

• Leading an already established VPDSS compliance and reporting program
• Contributing towards the continuous review and improvement of cyber and Information Security procedures and practices
• Promoting cyber and Information Security best practices across the organisation
• Ensuring that VEC's security program remains current and effective
• Leading remediation activities for incidents, compliance matters and audits relating to cyber and Information Security
• Providing strategic-level support to the Head of Cyber & Information Security on the development and implementation of cyber and Information Security related operational planning, budgets and other corporate reporting requirements

What you will bring to the role

• Demonstrated experience in managing cyber and Information Security in medium to large organisations
• Specialist knowledge of cyber and Information Security principles and best practice
• Applied understanding of relevant legislation as well as security frameworks such as VPDSS, ASD Essential Eight, ASD ISM, and ISO-27001.
• Strong interpersonal skills to influence and partner with stakeholders
• A tertiary qualification in computer science, information technology, cyber security, or a related field.
• An Industry recognised cybersecurity certification and eligibility to obtain an Australian security clearance are highly desirable.
