About the role
We are seeking an experienced Purchasing & Planning Officer who will be responsible for companywide purchasing / procurement, material, and finish goods planning for various projects, raising purchase requests / purchase orders on approved vendors, while adhering to the company’s Financial Regulations. The position is responsible for ensuring stock levels remain within documented guidelines (min/max levels), integrity of the data supplied during the procurement process and following up vendors that have not fulfilled their obligations.
Key accountabilities include:
- Raise purchase orders and purchase requests for goods and services from approved vendors
- Liaise with vendors on requests for quotations (RFQ’s) for supply of goods/services
- Ensure the accuracy of data recorded in Quantum ERP for goods / services and expected delivery dates
- Expedite priority buys
- Determine and maintain min/max at agreed levels
- Participate in stock taking activities
- Manage forecast of required production materials
- Monitor and act on daily reports from ERP
- Assist in identifying and managing end of life stock replenishment
- Work with Business lines to analyse demand for relevant parts and maintain level of agreed inventory per business line
- Support business operations to resolve SLA breaches of contract and provide guidance to resolutions
- Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function and across other functions.
About You
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, or Procurement, or Business Administration / Commerce is preferred
- Demonstrate experience in a purchasing role within a global supply chain, e.g., automotive or aerospace
- Possess advance Excel skills
- Have knowledge of Sales and Operation Planning
- Have freight management experience
- Be confident in negotiating contract arrangements
- Vendor management / expediting
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate with technical and non-technical individuals
- Natural ability to plan showing good attention to detail, organisational/time management and follow through
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable in a changing environment
- Demonstrated drive, passion, and commitment to achieve results
- Strong and demonstrated customer service capability and personality
Experience with Quantum or a similar ERP would be very highly regarded.
