Are you passionate about transparency and empowering the public with access to Information? Join our dynamic Right to Information (RTI) Team at the heart of our Information Access Unit.
About your new role
As a Right to Information Officer, you'll be the frontline of our RTI Team, managing inquiries, coordinating responses, and assisting the RTI decision-makers with the processing of applications under the Right to Information Act 2009 and Information Privacy Act 2009. Reporting directly to the Team Leader, you'll work closely with decision-makers to ensure seamless information access for the public. With over 200 applications annually, you'll be pivotal in sourcing information across all Council functions.
About you
You will serve as the primary contact for the RTI Team, managing inquiries via email and phone, providing expert guidance to the public on lodging applications and status updates. You’ll maintain meticulous records in Objective, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and utilise your research skills to coordinate searches and collate responsive documents.
You are someone who thrives in a collaborative team environment, are adept at managing multiple tasks and quick to grasp the intricacies of the Right to Information and Information Privacy Acts. You possess a deep understanding of Local Government operations and information holdings with strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex information.
