We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join their dedicated team on a 3-6 month contract. Based in the CBD, this role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the efficient and accurate management of payroll services within a dynamic government setting.
Position Overview
As a Senior Payroll Officer, your primary responsibility will be to manage payroll processes efficiently and accurately. You will collaborate with the team to ensure that employees are paid correctly and on time, and that all entitlements are recorded according to legislation, awards, policies, and best practices. Additionally, you will contribute to creating a high-performing and collaborative culture within the organisation.

- Full time hours (monday - friday)
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with government regulations.
- Process payroll for a diverse employee base, including calculations, deductions, and bonuses, and submit timely and accurate reports to relevant authorities.
- Lead and mentor payroll professionals, collaborating with HR and Finance teams for seamless coordination within the governmental structure.
- Stay current with government payroll regulations, conducting regular audits to ensure adherence and resolve discrepancies.
- Utilise advanced knowledge of government payroll software (Chris21), collaborating with IT to implement system upgrades aligned with government standards and generate/analyse payroll reports for audits and government authorities.
- Relevant qualifications in payroll, finance, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in end-to-end payroll processing.
- Knowledge of legislative requirements, awards, and best practices.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
