About the Role
As Technical Coordinator you will have the opportunity to oversee facilities, equipment and supplies required to support the teaching of Drama, Media Art, Music, Visual Art and Design education. You will play a significant role in Faculty of Education (FoE) Art Education by providing support and expertise to academic staff and students and have a direct impact on the quality of teaching and practical learning.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing our studioFive facility, including ensuring tidiness and organisation of teaching and storage spaces
  • Preparation of practical classes held in the faculty’s specialised teaching spaces for Drama, Media Art, Music, Visual Art and Design education
  • Service, maintenance checks and compliance of specialised equipment, including arranging repairs
  • Providing event support and assist with specialised technical equipment, including instruments and props during practical classes and assessment presentations

Who We Are Looking For
You will demonstrate excellent communication skills and have the ability to anticipate requirements of academic teaching staff. A thorough knowledge of one or more of the areas of Drama, Media Art, Music, Visual Art and Design equipment will be highly regarded. You will show initiative and creativity, to provide solutions to technical challenges and knowledge of work policies, processes and operations to devise new and better ways of working.

You will also have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant (i.e. art/art education) discipline and/or equivalent mix of education and relevant experience
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to Drama, Media Art, Music, Visual Art and Design teaching
  • Ability to plan and organise efficiently, as well as manage competing priorities for the purpose of positive organisational outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to interact positively and work co-operatively in a multi-disciplinary team environment and liaise with people from diverse backgrounds

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
