The Opportunity:
We are currently undergoing a large technology, data and business transformation program resulting in refreshing the technology blueprint and the introduction of modern ways of working with the aim of crafting a simpler, faster more connected organisation.
Within this we have an opportunity for a Technology Environment Manager to lead the definition, implementation and maintenance of procedures and standards for AIA Australia’s applications environment management. This spans across both cloud and on-premise Technology Environments adopting a best of breed model.
Primarily this role will drive and optimise the provision of our Technology Environments, ensuring reliability and efficiency. A pivotal role in driving technology initiatives, both change and run, and maintaining a robust and scalable Technology Environment to support a high paced, dynamic environment.
This role reports directly into the GM Infrastructure/Cloud, Engineering and Quality and can be based in either Melbourne or Sydney.
The successful candidate will:
- Provide a hands-on technical support in ensuring environments are fully functional and consistent
- Analysing and documenting the current state of various AIA Australia Technology environments
- Leading the identification of appropriate desired environments and associated medium term objectives
- Taking an involved approach to create automation scripts and develop guidelines to ensure environments are replicated correctly
- Supervising the state of the test environments with relevant tools/scripts
- Continually handling the expectations of the business and project team members as the technical solution evolves
- End to end ownership of the test environment by working with multiple internal teams and vendors to ensure the right technology conditions are created and supported
- Together with the Test Manager and QA/Test teams and Technical Leads, manage all environment related issues and customer concerns
- Work multi-functionally with the Infrastructure, Architecture and Technical teams in designing new environments/upkeep on existing environments
- Introduce the test data sets management and data virtualization. Establish practices within Run & change teams to optimize the value.
To be successful in this position, you will have:
- Extensive previous demonstrated experience in Technology Environment management
- Substantial previous commercial experience within software development projects and cloud migration
- Significant previous experience in the areas of software design and architecture
- The ability to work across and demonstrated strong leadership of multi-functional teams
- Demonstrable experience of being able to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving technology landscape
- Strong customer engagement skills and the ability to work with collaborators across multiple teams and levels of seniority
- A solid understanding and hands-on environment management experience in leading sophisticated business applications in both data centre and cloud environments
- Solid grasp of cloud computing, virtualisation and networking technologies
- Good experience in DevOps tools including BitBucket, Jenkins, JIRA, Confluence
